Cancellation and refunds

Cancellation and refunds Refunds I do not give refunds unfortunately, unless under exceptional circumstances, and if I decide to refund, I will have to do so minus an administration fee of £5. Cancellations can really affect income and myself, and colleagues, have seen an increase in cancellations, particularly near to or on the day of the event. This means we are unable to fill these spaces to make the event viable. Because of this, I have had to have a strict no refund policy – I do hope you understand and will continue to support me and my moorland guide colleagues. If you need to cancel your place on a group walk or workshop My walks and workshops do have limited spaces, if you need to cancel, please can you do so at least three weeks prior to the event. Please email me at karenvpearson@gmail.com to do so. Walks take place in most weather conditions unless it is considered adverse weather (see below). The Dawdle and Draw walks may be cancelled if the weather prevents opportunities to stop and draw, but this will be at the discretion of Karen Pearson. If you cancel before three weeks prior to the event, I can give you a credit note (minus a £5 deduction for admin and booking costs) that can be used to book another event with me. The credit note will be valid for a year. If you cancel within three weeks of the event, I cannot offer refunds, transfer of tickets or credit notes. If you would like to let someone else use your ticket in your place, please let me have their details in good time. If you need to cancel a Private Hire walk If you need to cancel a bespoke private walk, please can you do so at least 4 weeks before the agreed date by emailing us at karenvpearson@gmail.com. I can send you a credit note (minus £5 admin fee) to use within 1 year for an alternative bespoke walk or for one of my organised walks. If you do not cancel prior to the 4 weeks’ notice, you will lose full payment. If we need to cancel or postpone Adverse weather Adverse and extreme weather may have an impact on walks and workshops being run on Dartmoor. Karen Pearson will take action should there be any doubt or concern regarding the safety of people attending her walks and workshops. All information gathered to inform decisions will be taken from an appropriate forecaster in collaboration with her knowledge of the geographical areas in question. As a qualified walk leader, I have comprehensive knowledge and the skills needed to make decisions about the safety of the activities I am running in the context of different weather conditions. Dartmoor can be unpredictable in terms of the weather, and it is not uncommon for the weather to drastically change within a short period of time. Fog, rain, and strong winds are common conditions. As such, I advise all customers to ensure that they are appropriately dressed for such conditions. Whilst these conditions can be uncomfortable to walk in if ill-prepared, they are not unsafe when accompanied by an experienced and qualified guide. However, • If lightning is forecast, we would change location if possible and cancel the session if not. • If snow/ice is forecast, travel to and on the moors would be affected and it is at the discretion of the guide whether the walk will go ahead, be moved to another more safely accessible location or cancelled . • If a yellow weather warning is in place, the guide would consider changing the location of the walk (depending on the nature of the warning) and if it isn’t deemed safe, the walk would be cancelled. • If an amber or red weather warning is in place, the walk will be cancelled. As the Moorland Guides do, I will use the Met Office and BBC Weather forecasts to inform knowledge and make final decisions on the weather. If I have to postpone, I will send you a credit note to use for or towards another walk or workshop within one year of the date of postponement.
